Greenbrier County Points of Pride

- Last year, 185 4-H’ers and volunteers participated in county camps. Our
programs provided educational opportunities for 675 members in 20 community
4-H clubs, a 4-H Basketball League, and special-interest groups.
- Energy Express promoted the school success of 48 limited-resource youths
in White Sulphur Springs through supervised reading experiences and nutritious
meals. The program fostered collaboration among parents, family members, community
leaders, and various agencies.
- Research in pasture grasses and nutrient management impacts local farmers’
incomes.
- The “Be Smart! Eat Smart!” program is reaching residents of Lewisburg, Rainelle,
Ronceverte, and Rupert. Limited-resource participants learn to feed their
families better and manage their food dollars.
- About 65 residents learned about more healthful diets at the Rite Bite in-service,
which provided the latest nutritional information to caregivers working with
the elderly.
- The Community Educational Outreach Service provides educational opportunities
in leadership, personal development, nutrition, food safety, family life,
and community service.
- The Greenbrier Hydrologic Unit sampled, scouted, and made nutrient recommendations
on more than 3,000 acres enrolled in the Integrated Crop Management Program.
Our Precision Farming Program has grown to more than 1,000 acres.
