Hardy County Points of Pride

- Community and special-interest 4-H clubs have 350 members led by 70 adult
volunteers. County 4-H'ers completed more than 350 projects.
- More than 200 families received pesticide safety information, and 110 individuals
were recertified as private pesticide applicators last year.
- "Beginning Steps," the Hardy County Child Care Center, has an average daily
attendance of 70 children from 46 families.
- The 280 Community Educational Outreach Service members volunteer approximately
34,000 hours to community service annually.
- Hardy County Family Issues Task Force established a countywide tobacco
coalition, which used a $1,000 grant to conduct educational programs to involve
15 youth in peer education programs.
- Extension faculty offered 32 classes to 250 people at the annual state
Poultry Festival's "Festival of Ideas."
- More than 200 4-H'ers and 50 volunteers take part in planning and conducting
two weeks of 4-H camp at Camp Pinnacle, which is owned by the county 4-H program.
Eighty 4-H'ers and 50 adults participate in a multicounty horse camp.
- The county Health Fair blood screening reached 550 residents.
- Six monthly Family Times newsletters were distributed to parents of kindergarten
students in two schools.
- Thirty diabetic clients participated in 8 diabetic education learning sessions.
