Jefferson County Points of Pride

- Wondering about those bugs? Need a soil sample tested? Each year, we answer
more than 500 gardening questions. That doesn't include answers in the Extension
Garden Calendars we give away.
- Ask us about the many opportunities in farm management education--everything
from how to do accounting to how to use the Web.
- Our service supports the marketing of agricultural products, the evolution
of public policy on land use, and the successful transition of organizations.
- Nine Community Educational Outreach Service clubs strengthen individuals
and families through continuing education, leadership development, and service.
- Participants in Be Smart--Eat Smart, a new nutrition education program,
meet in small groups with an Extension nutrition associate; they prepare and
share nutritious foods.
- More than 1,500 county food service workers earned food handlers' permits
in classes assisted by our Food Safety Team. Forty managers earned national
food safety certification.
- Our Jefferson County 4-H Program and its 44 community clubs support skill-
building, career-developing opportunities for 550 youths (ages 4 to 20) and
their 300 adult leaders.
- Careers. Citizenship. Environmental Stewardship. Fun! That's camping at
Camp Frame every summer for 500 eager 4-H'ers. 4-H develops leadership, citizenship,
communication skills, and more.
- Find 4-H here! Call us.
