Pleasants County Points of Pride

- About 250 youths and adult leaders participate in eight 4-H clubs. Each
group conducts at least one community service project annually.
- The 130 4-H'ers attending camp participate in classes, crafts, tribal
duties, assemblies, sports, special events, council circle, and late-night
sessions (for older campers). The Pleasants County 4-H Junior Leaders plan
much of the program. They also teach classes and crafts.
- Approximately 25 local youths attend Alpha Camp or Older Members'
Conference at JacksonŐs Mill State 4-H Conference Center each summer.
- The 125 members in eight Community Educational Outreach Service (CEOS)
clubs (the former Extension Homemakers) conduct many community service
programs. The clubs maintain community buildings and support 4-H clubs.
- Each year, we answer hundreds of questions about insects and plant
problems. We also give away garden calendars.
- On behalf of the Solid Waste Authority, Agent Bonanno developed,
submitted, and managed grants for the development of a modern recycling
center and composting facility.
- Home safety programs, Safety Town, and Kid Camp programs reached more
than 300 children last year with fire safety information.
