Wetzel County Points of Pride

- A new banquet hall and conference center has replaced the old assembly hall
at the Wetzel County 4-H Campgrounds.The Mollohan Conference and Training
Center, which seats more than 400 people, is now accepting reservations.
- The Wetzel County Hospital Emergency Planning Committee has developed emergency
procedures and protocols.The Extension agent assisted the hospital’s
emergency room nursing director in setting up the first Off-Site Triage, Treatment
and Transportation Center in the state during the first mock disaster drill
in 2002. A drill involving all area emergency departments will be held annually.
- More than 205 youths in 11 clubs enjoy camping, experimenting, and learning
through 4-H. Summer camps and weekend overnighters provide them a safe, fun,
and educational environment.
- Workshops during Family Times Weekend offer parents, children, and teens
the opportunity to interact, learn new skills, obtain valuable information,
strengthen relationships, and have fun.
- More than 200 3- and 4-year-olds participated in last year’s Fall
into Safety program. The Center for Children and Families, the fire department,
and Extension sponsored the program.
