Wyoming County Points of Pride

- The “One-Room Schoolhouse Project,” funded by a grant from the WVU-Kellogg
Expanding Community Partnerships Program, allowed two community centers in
Wyoming County to use technology as a rural revitalization tool.
- The Community Design Team worked with a group of Mullens citizens to formulate
future downtown development plans.
- 4-H and the Youth Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP)
involves 938 youths and 50 adult volunteers.
- Adult EFNEP provided nutrition education to 25 families.
- The 78 Community Educational Outreach Service members conduct many community
service programs.
- Baileysville, Glen Rogers, and Pineville were hosts for 120 youths during
Energy Express, a six-week reading and nutrition program. Fifteen mentors,
three Vista volunteers, three site coordinators, and a multitude of community
volunteers helped children increase their reading skills during the summer.
- The Wyoming County Board of Education and Extension conducted a career education
program for 212 eighth-graders. Six high school sophomores were trained as
postsecondary peer mentors at WV CARES (Career Academy Resource Enhancement
Symposium).
