Downtown Library Complex

Downtown Library Complex construction December 13, 2001

The Downtown Library Complex consists of a five-level lateral expansion connecting to the existing structure on three levels.  The new building extends between White and Clark Halls.  The current facade of Wise Library is preserved in an atrium connecting the old and new facilities.

The new facility includes seating for 1200 users with a variety of tables, chairs, lounge seating, individual study carrells, and group study rooms. More than 100 new computer workstations are available to the public, in addition to laptops for in-building use with a wireless network, and data drops and electrical connections for users who bring their own computers. Librarians teach classes in a new electronic classroom, and large and small group multimedia viewing rooms are provided.
