Accounting & Financial Systems Functions

• Develop the professional and administrative Accounting and Financial Systems staff, as well as develop the business processes for financial services to the Accounting Department's customers.
• Develop, implement and administer university-wide accounting and financial reporting policies, procedures and systems designed to ensure compliance with applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
• Develop and enhance the University's Financial Management Systems to serve all users and customers. The University's Financial Systems partner is Oracle Corporation.
• Prepare Financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles for state universities; The University follows generally accepted accounting principles for public higher education institutions as established by the Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB).

The Director manages the activities of General Accounting, Financial Reporting, Debt and Asset Accounting, and Financial Systems. The Director also serves as support for accounting and financial reporting at the Regional Campuses of Potomac State College of West Virginia University, West Virginia Institute of Technology, and West Virginia University at Parkersburg.
