| Q. Will I receive a paper bill? A. Beginning Summer 2007, WVU will no longer issue paper bills, unless requested through the STAR Information System by the student. Billing information is typically available on STAR roughly (5) weeks before the start of Fall and Spring semesters, provided that the student is pre-registered for classes. |
| Q. If I opt for a paper bill through STAR, does that mean I will always get a paper bill? A. No. Students will be required to opt for a paper bill through STAR once each semester that they are requesting a bill. NOTE: If someone other than the student is paying for tuition & fees and/or room & board and need a paper bill, it will be the student’s responsibility to request that bill, as needed. Students that do not opt for a paper bill will be expected to view their account information through STAR and make payment accordingly. Failure to make payment on time will result in late payment fees and/or deletion of classes. |
| Q. If I make any changes to my class schedule, when will that be updated on STAR? A. Any registration changes are updated immediately on STAR. In addition, any payments made through STAR (credit card or check) will also be reflected in real-time. NOTE: Financial aid will not be automatically adjusted. If you are dropping below full-time hours or have any significant changes to your student status, please notify the Financial Aid Office so that your aid package can be adjusted accordingly. |
| Q. If receiving a paper bill, will I receive two bills (one for tuition and fees and another for housing room and board)? A. No. They are combined on a single bill. |
| Q. Are all fees charged on the bill or on STAR? A. No. Departmental fees (parking, equipment rental for some physical education courses, etc.) will be separately billed by the individual departments. A comprehensive bill is planned for the future. |
| Q. Are tuition and fee waivers reflected on the bill or on STAR? A. Waivers are deducted on the bill (or on STAR) as a credit amount. Questions on waivers for undergraduate students should be to directed to the Scholar's Office at (304) 293-4126. Graduate students should contact their departments. |
| Q. If my bill or STAR shows a zero (0) "Amount Due", do
I need to do anything? A. No. |
| Q. When is payment due? A. Payment is due prior to the first day of classes for the term. Payments received by the Office of Student Accounts on or after the first day of classes will be charged a $40.00 late payment fee. |
| Q. Should the payment be mailed or brought to campus? A. To avoid waiting in lines, payment should be made through STAR. If payments must be mailed, they should be mailed early enough to ensure payment is received and posted to the student's account before the first day of classes. Payment can also be made at one of the drop boxes or payment satellite locations on campus. |
| Q. Does WVU offer a monthly payment plan? A. Yes. WVU offers a monthly payment through Sallie Mae called TuitionPay. Students and parents can budget tuition & fee and room & board costs over the academic year by making affordable monthly payments. To enroll in TuitionPay, please visit their web-site at www.tuitionpay.com/wvu . |
| Q. What amount must be paid by the "Due Date" shown on the remittance of the paper bill? A. The minimum amount due. If viewing account information through STAR, the minimum amount due will not automatically be calculated. You will need to do a 60% calculation of the Current Due net of Authorized Financial Aid and Memos under the Account Detail By Term/Make Payment section in STAR. |
| Q. What forms of payment are accepted? A. Payment may be made by cash, check, money order, Visa, MasterCard or Discover. |
| Q. How will my refund be issued? A. Refunds will be mailed to a student’s refund address. If there is no refund address, refunds will be mailed to the local/mailing address on file, provided students are registered for the appropriate number of credit hours, and promissory notes and entrance counseling have been completed, if applicable. |
| Q. How do I update my address? A. On the back of the remittance portion of your bill is a section to update your local/mailing and permanent/home addresses. Also you may contact Admissions and Records at (304) 293-2121 or any cashier satellite office to update your address. *Address updates can now be made using STAR for students. Just log on at http://www.mix.wvu.edu and follow the appropriate prompts. NOTE: Students living in the residence halls will have their local/mailing address automatically updated with their campus address. Therefore, there is no need for the student to update their local/mailing address. |
| Q. What if my refund check was sent to an old or incorrect address? A. In many cases, refunds are returned to Office of Student Accounts if they are undeliverable. If a refund check is not returned, a stop payment on that refund cannot be initiated until (15) mailing days from the date that the check was mailed. |
| Q. What if my local/mailing address is correct, but my
refund should be mailed to a different address? A. You should update your record with a special refund mailing address. This can be done by contacting Admissions and Records at (304) 293-2121 or any cashier satellite office. |
| Q. Can refunds be deposited directly in to my bank
account? A. Although this option is being developed for the future, it is not currently available. |
| Q. When will refunds be issued? A. Refunds will be mailed beginning the first week of classes. Then twice a week thereafter. You can expect your financial aid living expense refund approximately six (6) days after your financial aid has been posted on your account. |
| Q. What if I am due a loan, but I have not signed the
