Welcome!

This site describes the education (undergraduate and graduate) and the research in forensic chemistry and forensic toxicology available at West Virginia University, specifically through the research group of Dr. Suzanne Bell.

We work extensively with the Basic Pharmaceutical Sciences at the WVU Health Sciences Center as well as local, state, and national forensic laboratories and law enforcement agencies.

Fast Facts about our program:

  • WVU is one of ten FEPAC accredited undergraduate Forensic Science degree programs in the United States and is one of the largest.
  • Our chemistry program is accredited by the American Chemical Society.
  • Dual degree programs are available for a BS/BS or a BS/BA in Forensic Science and Chemistry; offering our students a wealth of opportunities.
  • Our undergraduates:
    • Participate in forensic research with faculty and graduate student mentors.
    • Attend regional and national conferences to present their work.
    • Receive internships in state and federal laboratories.
  • Our graduates:
    • Work for forensic laboratories, universities, and federal agencies.
