The NAFTA Engineering Exchange Program allows WVU Engineering students to study abroad for a semester by "swapping" places with a student from Canada or Mexico. Funded by the U.S. Department of Education North America Mobility Project, the purpose of the program is
enhance students' knowledge of current transportation and logistics issues in NAFTA member countries. This program also enables student graduates to work in multicultural environments with language capabilities and further their intellectual abilities by fostering respect and social responsibility in other cultures.
Classes are taught in the host language however, language training opportunities will be provided to help students advance their foreign langauge abilities. While abroad, students will enroll in engineering, independent study, foreign language, and cultural courses.
Participants will continue to pay their tuition, fees, and housing charges (double-room Arnold Apartments) to WVU. Students with federal aid, student loans, WVU Scholarships, and the WV Promise Scholarship may use these funds toward the cost of the program. Participants will also recieve a stipend to assist with their travel, housing, meals, and books costs.
To apply, students must be enrolled full-time as a WVU Engineering student with a minimum GPA of 2.75 and have completed at least one semester of study at WVU. In addition, students must be in good judicial standing with no major disciplinary violations.
