Information for Exchange Students

WVU is home to students and research scholars from more than 90 countries around the world. We are proud of the diversity on our campus, which is supported by traditional West Virginia hospitality and friendliness. Besides the local community’s openness to international guests, its overall safety provides an ideal environment for newcomers to get acquainted with American culture. Morgantown offers the conveniences and cultural opportunities of a big city in a small-town atmosphere, and is within driving distance of major cities like Pittsburgh, PA, and Washington, DC. To learn more about WVU, please watch our video for prospective international students on iTunes U.

Housing and Meals

Once you have been admited by WVU, you will recieve an acceptance packet from the Office of International Programs (OIP), which will include the housing application. OIP recommends that all exchange students live on campus, because off-campus housing can be quite expensive and usually requires students to sign a 12-month lease agreement. In addition, exchange students usually find living on campus more convienent option because they can walk to class and have access to all of the cafeterias and activities on campus. Plus, students who live on campus typically meet more WVU students and are only a few minutes walk from downtown.

Exchange students may choose either Arnold Apartments or the International House. Students from the following schools must live
