The International Finance and Accounting program provides MBA and ILR majors an opportunity to explore the application of international finance and accounting concepts in China. Students who participate in the program will study the nature and distinguishing characteristics of global business, currency conversion mechanisms, currency markets, and the sensitivity of investment decision-making in a global context. Students will also look into the emerging issues of importance to China and the world including: Social Security, security markets, banking, WTO, intellectual properly, as well as economic growth and the environment.
To prepare for their experience abroad, students will meet throughout the spring semester and learn the basics of international finance and the topics of critical importance to China as it moves toward further inclusion in the world economy. While in China, students will visit cultural and business sites throughout Beijing, Shanghai and Xia. In addition to visiting Tiananmen Square and the Great Wall, students will visit old and new state-owned companies, joint ventures and solely own subsidiaries in order to observe the differences in management style between the various organizations. There will also be excursions to various banks, financial institutions, and the Shanghai Stock Exchange. Upon their return, students will use their experience and observations from China to their final group paper.
