This course is a four-week Chinese culture and language immersion program hosted by Soochow University in Suzhou, China. Students will be able to participate in intensive Chinese language classes, cultural lectures and a variety of cultural activities including weekend excursions to Shanghai and Hangzhou.

While in the beautiful and historic “City of Gardens”, students will have ample opportunities to understand and appreciate Chinese cultural values and modes of philosophical thought as reflected in its unique garden art, architecture, painting, calligraphy and local handicrafts.

Course Information

• CHIN 293F: Contemporary China, 3 credits
• CHIN 293E: Chinese Language & Culture in Suzhou, 3 credits
• CHIN 493: Chinese Language & Culture in Suzhou, 3 credits
• Prerequisites: CHIN 102 and a minimum GPA of 2.75
• Prerequisite: CHIN 204 for second year Chinese students taking CHIN 493
