Purpose of the WV-ISEP Study Abroad Consortium

West Virginia Higher Education Policy CommissionIn 2006 the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission (HEPC) entered into a consortia agreement with International Student Exchange Programs (ISEP) based in Washington, D.C. This agreement provides students from any of West Virginia's public four-year colleges access to over 150 study abroad programs in 38 different countries.

West Virginia University and Marshall University serve as the two lead institutions and provide advising services for students interested in studying abroad through the WV-ISEP Study Abroad Consortium. The Office of International Programs at West Virginia University serves as the lead institution for the northern-half of the state, which includes the following institutions: Fairmont State University; Glenville State College; Shepherd University; West Liberty State College; and West Virginia University (Morgantown, Potomac State, WVU-Parkersburg, and WVU-Tech campuses).

About the International Student Exchange Program (ISEP)

International Student Exchange Program (ISEP)The International Student Exchange Program (ISEP), founded in 1979, is a membership organization of higher education institutions cooperating to provide international educational experiences for students. ISEP has nearly 300 Members and Affiliates throughout the United States and 39 other countries. More than 28,000 students have participated in ISEP programs to date.

ISEP is an independent, self-supporting non-profit organization governed by a Board of Directors and administered by a central office in Washington, D.C., and by the designated Coordinator at each member institution. ISEP members are regionally accredited (U.S. institutions) or recognized by their government or ministry of education (international institutions).
