Computer Resources
The Library provides forty-two networked computers throughout the library. Each computer provides access to the latest versions of Word and WordPerfect, the Internet, LexisNexis, Westlaw, MountainLynx (the online card catalog), PowerPoint, Corel Presentations, Excel, Quattro Pro, CALI Lessons, Adobe Acrobat, LegalTrac, Index to Legal Periodicals, and the LexisNexis Congressional Universe. In addition, each seat in the Library is connected to a network that allows students to plug in laptop computers equipped with an Ethernet card to access the Internet, Westlaw, LexisNexis, and e-mail.
Carlin Computer Lab
Sixteen networked computers are available for training sessions and Law School applications in the Leo Carlin Computer Lab, located on the middle floor of the Law Library.
Law Library Network
All Law Library patrons will need to log on to use the computers in the Law Library. All undergraduate and public patrons who wish to use the Law Library computers will need to obtain a public username and password from either the Reference or Circulation desks. All WVU Law students will be assigned a network username and password.
- The network username for all law students is lastnamefirstname (all lowercase, no spaces). Example: flintstonefred
- The network password is the law student's law school PIN number. If you need your PIN number, please stop by the Circulation Desk in the Law Library.
- You may change your network password from your law school PIN number to a unique password of your choice. After you have logged in to the Library network with your username and original password (your law school PIN number), press Ctrl-Alt-Delete and enter a new password in the space provided. If you forget your new password, your password will need to be reset. Contact Lewis Mackley to have your password reset to your law school PIN number.
Printing from Law Library Computers
Beginning with the 2004 academic year, the College of Law Library will begin charging for printing from computers in the Law Library. All students and Law Library patrons who print from the Law Library computers will be charged $0.06 per page. Paper will be supplied by the Law Library.
LexisNexis and Westlaw Printers
The Law Library has LexisNexis and Westlaw printers and encourages law students to print case law, law review articles, and other materials from LexisNexis and Westlaw. Students do not pay to print to the LexisNexis and Westlaw printers. Paper for the LexisNexis and Westlaw printers is supplied by the vendors. The printers are located on the top floor of the library in Room 201B and in the back right corner of the Student Lounge.
