David Taddie

Associate Professor - Music Theory Director of Electronic Music

David Taddie studied composition with Edwin London, Bain Murray, and Rudolph Bubalo at Cleveland State University where he received his BA and MM in Composition.  He received his Ph.D from Harvard University, where he studied with Mario Davidovsky, Bernard Rands, and Donald Martino. Performances ofhis compositions include the Cleveland Orchestra (Education Series), the Cleveland Chamber Symphony, the New Millennium, the Mendelssohn String Quartet, the California Music Associates, Cleveland Institute of Music Wind Ensemble, Harvard Group for New Music, among others. Composition awards and honors include a Charles Ives Scholarship from the American Academy of Arts and Letters: the Kaske Fellowship Award to the Wellesley Composers Conference; the Adelbert W. Sprague, Francis Boott, and Bohemians Prize from Harvard University; and in 1995, was named Music Teachers National Associate Shepherd Distinguised Composer of the Year.
