Philip Faini
Percussion
Professor Philip Faini is a specialist in both Percussion and African Music. He was the founder of the acclaimed West Virginia University Percussion Ensemble, which was selected by the U.S. State Department for a nine nation tour of South America. The ensemble was also selected to participate in three International Expositions in Japan as well as making national television appearances on NBC, CBS, and PBS.
Phil Faini has presented various lectures and workshops and has made television appearances throughout the United States, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Haiti, Panama, Paraguay, Trinidad, and Uruguay. Prof. Faini, whose degrees are from West Virginia University, has also received several grants for the study of African music in the countries of Ghana, Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania.
