Staff Policies

General

Photocopy Policy
The Division of Music leases a photocopy machine for the purpose of providing services to the music faculty for university business purposes.

Photocopy service for personal business, for students, and for the general public, is not provided.

Violation of the Copyright Law is prohibited.

Telephone Policy
Telephones provided by the Division of Music are to be used by faculty and staff for university business only. Long distance calls by students or by the general public are prohibited.

Ticket Policy
Staff will receive 2 complimentary tickets per Division of Music concert in progress except the opera, which will have 1 complimentary ticket per staff member. There will be no complimentary tickets for the Gala since this event supports music scholarships.

All complimentary tickets must be picked up prior to 1:00 pm of the day of the concert.

Professional

Compensatory Time
If compensatory time is chosen in lieu of overtime pay, this must be done in consultation with your supervisor. Approved Compensatory Time forms will accompany the monthly Employee Time Record; compensatory time must be taken within a six-month period from when the overtime occurred.

Request for Leave
Leave Request Forms must be submitted to supervisors at least 24 hours in advance of anticipated leave. (Vacations should be scheduled as much in advance as possible.) Approved Leave Request Forms will accompany the monthly Employee Time Record.

Sick Leave
In the event of an illness causing absence from work, notify your supervisor as soon as possible during business hours. If you are unable to reach your supervisor contact a staff member of the Division of Music.

Music Library

The collection in the Music Library (books, scores, recordings) is available to the faculty, students, and the general public, subject to the general regulations of the Library.

Library hours are posted each semester, and are subject to change.

Please do not reshelve books or scores.

No smoking, no food or drink in library areas.

Quiet Area
Please keep the hallway near rooms 422, 438 and 440 quiet. The noise from this hallway can disturb those studying in the library.

Fines for overdue, 25 cents per day per book

New Books
Specially marked new books will be examined upon return to see if they are damage free. If any is found, the loaner will be required to make erasures, if minor ones will suffice. If the disfigurement is so sever that erasures are not feasible, the loaner will be required to pay the cost of replacement or a penalty of $25, whichever is greater.

Restricted Circulation
Books, scores, periodicals, to be used in Music Library only.

Reserve
To be used in Music Library during the day. May be checked out overnight, unless stamped, "Not to be taken for the library." Due back the following morning by 9:00 a.m., (10:00 a.m. Sat., and 1:00 p.m. Sun.). Fine for overdue, 25 cents per hour.

Reference
To be used in the Music Library only.

Study carrels
Assigned. See librarian.

Record Collection (Closed Stacks), Room 218A
Sound recordings may be checked out by faculty for a period of three days. Scores on reserve may be checked out overnight unless stamped "Not to be taken from the library." Due back the following morning at 9:00 a.m. - at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday and 1 p. m. Sunday.

Sound recordings, scores, headphones, and cartridges must be signed out to be used in the Listening Library.

I.D. cards or similar identification must be left with the librarian until all materials are checked in.

Please treat equipment and recordings with care. Ask the librarian for assistance, if needed.
