LOCATION
WVU, College of Creative Arts, Morgantown, West Virginia
WHO IS ELIGIBLE
Any String students in grades 9 through 12 nominated by his/her Director (Orchestra, Band or Chorus)
NOMINATION
Please download the nomination form (which may be duplicated as necessary) to nominate your most accomplished students for the WVU Honors Orchestra. When nominating violinists, please specify on the back of each form that section you feel is appropriate for each student. Feel free to offer comments regarding the musical appropriateness of each nominee for this festival.
Please nominate only those students who will be able to participate fully if selected. Students who are unable to participate in all rehearsals and the concert should not be nominated.
COST
A $20 participation fee per student is required at registration on Thursday, February 28th.
HOUSING
Participants are responsible for arranging their own housing for the weekend. Hotel/Motel Information.
SEATING
On Thursday, February 28th all students/participants will be be asked to play from a selection of music to be mailed with acceptance letter . This will determine their seating within the orchestra.
ACTIVITIES
Intensive rehearsals culminating in a concert in a Grand Finale Concert performed by the WVU High School Honor Orchestra on Saturday, March 1st in the Clay Concert Theatre.
Attending the WVU Symphony Orchestra Concert, conducted by Mitchell Arnold on Thursday, February 28th in the Clay Concert Theatre.
