ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF PIANO PEDAGOGY
FULL-TIME TENURE TRACK
DATE OF APPOINTMENT: August 16, 2008 (classes begin August 18)
QUALIFICATIONS: Outstanding Piano Pedagogy specialist with a minimum of three years of successful college teaching experience. A doctorate or ABD in music (or equivalent professional experience) will be required. Candidates who have the ability to perform as collaborative pianists and who demonstrate active commitments to teaching and to recruitment will be preferred.
RANK AND SALARY: The appointment is at the level of Assistant Professor and is a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track appointment. Salary is commensurate with background and experience.
JOB DESCRIPTION: The primary assignment includes:
1) Teaching in and coordination of the Class Piano program for undergraduate music majors,
2) Teaching of Piano Pedagogy courses at undergraduate and graduate levels,
3) Coordination of the Piano Pedagogy programs at undergraduate and graduate levels, and
4) Directing student research projects at undergraduate, MM, and DMA levels.
Participation in divisional activities, recruitment, and faculty governance is required. Additional responsibilities may be assigned according to the needs of the Division of Music and the abilities of the candidate.

COLLEGE OF CREATIVE ARTS, DIVISION OF MUSIC: The College of Creative Arts (http://www.ccarts.wvu.edu/): The College of Creative Arts is one of 13 colleges within the University and includes the Divisions of Music, Theatre and Dance, and Art and offers the state’s premiere training in the visual and performing arts. Each of these units has a national profile of excellence and all programs are nationally accredited (NAST, NASM, and NASAD).
The College is housed in WVU’s recently renovated Creative Arts Center. There are approximately 800 majors in the college, 71 full-time faculty and 21 professional staff. Of the almost 800 majors in the College of Creative Arts, roughly 350 are in the Division of Music. The Division of Music comprises 35 full-time and 8 part-time faculty, and is the only fully accredited music unit in the state of West Virginia that offers B.A., B.M., M.M., D.M.A., and Ph.D. programs in music.
