Dr. Carpenter specializes in nineteenth-century Native American women writers and is currently pursuing publication of her book Seeing Red: Anger, Sentimentality, and American  Indians. She is especially committed to encouraging young native writers and has co-hosted two creative writing workshops for high school students.
