Summer I PET
668 Designed to examine developmental motor skill acquisition across the entire life span. Heredity and environmental factors unique to the motor skill development of the maturing individual will be emphasized. PET 665 Designed to examine the factors affecting curriculum development. Emphasis on research and application of self-directed experiments. Fall I PET 615 Applied research methodologies will be provided that will enable teachers to become consumers of available research and to conduct action research projects focusing on the application of programmatic coursework to improving school-based curriculum & instruction. Spring I PET 683 Research-based principles of effective teaching as they relate to physical education. Students will examine and evaluate their own teaching through a series of reflective assignments. Summer II (May-June)
PET 688 Teachers are provided with principles of learning in physical education contexts. It is expected that teachers will be able to design developmentally appropriate task and practice structures, stimulate student cognitive and psychomotor engagement, and provide instruction that will facilitate skill development. Designed for the use and evaluation of operant principles in the development and control of motor behavior in physical education. Applications will be made to traditional and individually prescribed instructional systems in physical education. PET 680 Theories Of Fitness Education Designed to provide the teacher with current theories and programs regarding fitness education. The teacher will apply this knowledge to the design and evaluation of fitness education programs in K-12 and community settings. Fall II PET

Designed to examine current professional issues in physical education and the impact of these issues on the professional's life. PET
686 Application of a wide range of prerequisite course competencies. Teachers will present before a faculty and peer audience evidence of the application of knowledge obtained in their MS program of studies to teaching settings. The results of their action research projects will be a major part of this final presentation. Teachers will specify plans for continued professional development based on their reflective assessments of their own teaching. |
