Physical education teachers and coaches are busy people. Physical education teachers and coaches typically teach throughout the day and then coach during the evenings and weekends. Therefore, traditional Masters degree programs that require students to take courses at a certain time and place are often simply impossible for teacher/coaches to fit into their busy schedules. Teachers in most states are required to pursue graduate coursework and/or graduate degrees in order to obtain career advancement and the increases in salary that accompanies professional development. The School of Physical Education at West Virginia began offering the Master of Science (MS) degree in Physical Education Teacher Education (PETE) in the summer of 2002. The MS degree program is a 36 credit degree program with both on-site and distance education components. Participants spend two weeks each summer in WV completing coursework and return home for the school year to take courses using web-based and internet-based delivery. Web-CT is the course design system used for the on-line components of the programs.

This program has been approved as a part of Southern Regional Electronic College and therefore will be offered at IN STATE TUITION.
