A. Because of the format in the course outline for ATTR 623,
only refer to the body of the case report.
1. You do not need to have an introduction or discussion in
the case report. Make sure that you are
very detailed and specific in your writing.
This information should come from your SOAP notes you have already
completed.
2. The case report should include the following components
in order as listed in the course outline: personal data, chief complaint,
history of present complaint (including symptoms), results of physical
examination, medical history (surgery, lab results etc), diagnosis, treatment
and clinical course (rehabilitation program until and after return to
competition with sets, reps, weights and ROM – this part is a summary not as
detailed a description used in ATTR 625), criteria for return to competition,
and deviation from expectations.
3. It is in the deviation from expectations where you
include information from your five references.
(Note: the five references could also be used in the other sections). Your case report will be due the day you do
the PowerPoint presentation.
B. The oral presentation (PPP) will be 20 minutes in length
- 15 minutes for the case report including all the pertinent information listed
above and 5 minutes for discussion, which will include 3 questions to generate
discussion with the class. Dress professionally.
Two points
will be taken off each monthly injury summary, while five points will be taken
off the body of the case report assignment when they are turned in late. Those points will be taken off after the
assignment has been graded.
If you do not turn
in an assignment due to an absence, you must notify the instructor either prior
to the class that you will be unable to attend or that same day if you are
ill. In the event of extenuating
circumstances, this syllabus may be altered or changed by the instructor.
If you are a person with a disability and anticipate needing any type of accommodation in order to participate in this class, please advise me and make appropriate arrangements with Disability Services at 293-6700.
