Graduate Studies in Physics at WVU
Greetings from the Chair:
Thank you for inquiring about graduate study in the Department of Physics at West Virginia University. The following materials describe our Masters and Doctoral programs. Also included are descriptions of the research interests of our faculty, along with general information about West Virginia University and the city of Morgantown.
It is an exciting time for physics at West Virginia University. Our growing department (now with eighteen faculty) have active, nationally competitive research programs in condensed matter physics (theory and experiment), plasma physics (experiment), and radio astronomy. Research in other areas, such as nonlinear dynamics, statistical physics, high energy theory, and medical physics provide a wide selection of research topics for our graduate students. If our programs are of interest to you, please submit an application by February 15 to receive full consideration for admission.
All applicants are automatically considered for financial support and all of our current students are employed as either teaching or research assistants.
We are pleased that you are interested in our department and we look forward to receiving your application.
Sincerely,Earl Scime
Chairman
Department of Physics
