PATS Events for Fall 1997
Tuesday October 28
12:30-2:00 p.m.: Technology Education (TE) 496 Graduate
Seminar at the Institute for the
History of Technology & Industrial Archeology (IHTIA), located at
the Bicentennial House, Willey Road on the Mileground. Associate
Director Billy Joe Peyton will discuss
the organizational purpose and current projects of the IHTIA. Meet
at Tatterson House, Evansdale, 2945 University Avenue in Morgantown,
promptly at 12:30 to carpool to the seminar site.
2:00-3:00 p.m.: PATS Meeting in the Conference Room at
Tatterson House. The main agenda items are the election of new
officers for 1997-98, planning for the November 15 field trip to Wheeling
Jesuit University/NTTC, and planning for the December 10 Holiday Party.

Tuesday November 11
12:30-2:00 p.m.: TE 496 Graduate Seminar
at 405 Allen Hall. Drs. E. Pytlik and G. Maughan of the
Technology Education Program will speak on the following topics:
- NSF Assessment of Third World S&T Development
- WVU Teletechnology Rural Development
- Maguire Oil & Gas Institute
2:00-3:00 p.m.: PATS Meeting in the Conference Room at
Tatterson House. The main agenda items are the announcement
of the newly elected officers for 1997-98, planning for the November 15
field trip to Wheeling Jesuit University/NTTC, and planning for the
December 10 Holiday Party. See the minutes

Saturday November 15
Tuesday November 25
No seminar or PATS meeting --- Thanksgiving Recess.
Tuesday December 2
12:30-2:00 p.m.: TE 496 Graduate Seminar
in the Conference Room at Tatterson House. On the agenda:
- Andrea Fleisher of the WVU Career Center will present an overview
of services offered to graduate students.
- Eileen Cooper of the Human Resources Department of NIOSH will
speak about relevant job skills for government positions as well
as summer opportunities for graduate students in technology.
2:00-3:00 p.m.: No general PATS meeting is scheduled
today. Steering Committee Planning Meeting,
for the old and new officers only.
Wednesday December 10
The annual Technology Education Holiday
Party, sponsored by the Technology Education Program
and PATS, will be held at Muriale's Restaurant on Beechurst
Avenue in Morgantown. Time: 6:30 p.m.--cash bar; 7:30 p.m.--Dinner.
The price will be $5.00 per person for PATS
members, faculty, staff, students and spouses.
Please make your reservation, along with your payment, with
Keri Bailey-Whitacre (days) at Tatterson House (304-293-3191)
or with A. David Roth (evenings) at Evansdale Library (304-293-4696,
x5104. Reservations must be made by December 5.
