TREK 21 PROJECT Assistantships

Applications are invited to fill ten (10) graduate assistantship positions for the TREK 21 Educating Teachers As Agents of Technological Change Project. These positions offer graduate students the opportunity to participate in the professional development of educators responsible for the preparation of new teachers, and in the establishment of a center for technology integration while pursuing an advanced degree in the College of Human Resources and Education at West Virginia University.

These assistantships are for a 12-month period beginning immediately (for currently enrolled WVU students), requiring 20 hours per week. These are 3-year positions, renewable on an annual basis until August of 2002, dependent upon satisfactory performance of duties and satisfactory progress toward a graduate degree. The assistantships include an annual stipend of $14,400 and tuition waiver.

Responsibilities:
Support the integration of instructional technologies (ITs) in the WVU Teacher Education Program and the Professional Development Schools, which includes the operation and maintenance of the TREK 21 Technology Integration Center, delivery of summer institutes and fall/spring mini-conferences. In addition, graduate assistants will assist in the collection and analysis of data resulting from the ongoing TREK 21 assessment process.

Qualifications:
Applicants must be accepted as a regular-status student in a West Virginia University graduate school program and be enrolled on a full-time basis each academic term. Preference will be given to applicants with teaching experience, strong instructional technology skills, and significant experience with the application of such technologies for educational purposes.

Application Procedure:
Each applicant should submit a resume, college transcripts, and two letters of recommendation to Dr. John G. Wells, Director, TREK 21, Technology Education, 509-D Allen Hall, West Virginia University, Morgantown, WV, 26506-6122. Applications will be reviewed until all positions are filled.
