The Plan of Study
Each first-year student selects an advisor during their first two months in the program. The student constructs a plan of study that includes a set of career objectives (to include a general description of the plans for conducting research while in the program) and courses and research and practicum experiences useful in meeting the stated career objectives. Once the plan is formulated, no later than November 1 of the student’s first year, the student meets with the Behavior Analysis Training Committee to review the plan and receive the endorsement of the Committee.
The purpose of the plan of study is to provide students with (a) an overview of their academic and career objectives during their tenure at West Virginia University and (b) a formal agreement between the student and the University as to the requirements that must be met to receive the Ph.D. degree.
