The Interactive Video Network (IViN) is an interactive videoconference connecting the Morgantown campus to other campuses throughout the state or any site having dial-up ISDN conferencing capability. West Virginia University uses the network for classes and meetings. The network has also been used by private companies for legal depositions, meetings, and employment interviews. For more information about leasing the network, follow the links below or contact Spencer Graham at (304)293-1305 ext. 3.

The statewide network is comprised
of sites which feature Multipoint Control Units (MCU). The sites are connected and automatically
switched by the MCU as needed during a conference. The IViN network
incorporates ISDN/dial-up and IP capabilities; therefore, sites
outside of the network can be added into a conference. This extends
the capabilities of conferencing to anywhere in the world.
The IViN network uses numerous communication technologies. These
include IP, PRI, BRI, ISDN, ATM, fiber optics, microwave, C and
Ku-band satellite uplink and downlink. The technology used at each
site is determined by several factors, such as availability of services
in a given area, cost effectiveness, quality of service required,
amount of usage, and distance to the network in point.
