Method for Manufacturing a Solid Pitch Foam
The invention is a method for fabricating foam using a hydrocarbon pitch source. Carbon dioxide is dissolved in a pitch, and the resultant liquid solution is held in a pressurized container. By suddenly releasing the pressure, the contents are forced through a nozzle. The carbon dioxide leaves the solution, creating bubbles resulting in foaming the solution, and rapidly solidifying the solution.
