Additional Funding Opportunities
Dessie Mandalais

The WVU Academic Partnership Program for teaching fellows provides our minority doctoral students the opportunity to serve as visiting faculty for one semester or more at a West Virginia state college campus while completing their doctoral degrees. The W. E. B. Du Bois, Swiger and SREB fellowships represent additional funding opportunities available to potential minority doctoral students.

The Colloquium for Aspiring Minority Doctoral Candidates is sponsored by WVU Provost Gerald Lang; the WVU President's Office for Social Justice; and the Office of Graduate Education and Life; as part of their continuing commitment to social justice.

A Special Invitation from Human Resources and Education

In addition to doctoral studies, a select portion of the Colloquium offers an opportunity for undergraduate students considering a Master's Degree in education. The programs offeres are diverse in nature and will be especially helpful to individuals at any stage of their academic career. There are many programs offered including:

  • Teacher Education
  • Educational Leadership
  • Curriculum and Instruction
  • Special Education
  • Reading and Literacy Studies
  • Speech Pathology and Audiology
  • Educational Psychology
  • Community and School Counseling
  • Rehabilitation Counseling
Group 2

GarrisonGraduates in these fields find that concrete experience in the schools provides a context for their graduate work and adds creditability to their academic degrees when they work with practitioners after graduation. As our communities become more diverse, it becomes increasingly important to make sure that our professional communities of teachers and those who teach teachers represent that diversity. We hope you will meet with us to explore the public school certification option during your visit to WVU. Please indicate your interest on the web application.
