Collection Access Instructions

The wvuScholar Institutional Repository (IR) contains several collections including Electronic Theses and Dissertations (ETD), Electronic Honors Theses (EHT) and Electronic Scholarly Research Archives (ESRA).  To search/browse the collections, visit http://wvuscholar.wvu.edu. All metadata (bibliographic information) may be viewed without restriction, however, some document files may be limited to campus access and require login via WVU MasterID account. Login is limited to WVU persons, and requires activation of your WVU MasterID account.

After checking/activating your MasterID account, you may login via the "lock" icon login in the upper right corner of the main wvuScholar search screen (see illustration below).

When a patron searches or browses wvuScholar without logging in, the portal provides access to the bibliographic records and abstracts for all approved WVU electronic submissions; however, only documents designated as "Open Access " may be downloaded directly from the Web.

Documents designated with "Campus" availability may be accessed on the Web only by authorized campus users.  Alternate access arrangements may be made by contacting the Inter-Library Loan Department at your local academic institution.

Documents designated with "No Access" availability may not be accessed due to patent pending concerns, usually embargoed for an initial one-year period. WVU faculty, students and staff may login to access campus restricted documents by using the WVU MasterID to login to wvuScholar. Each screen has a "Help" menu. To access, click on the "?" icon in the upper right corner of the screen.

If you experience technical problems please contact the WVU Office of Information Technology Help Desk at 293-4444.

Please direct any general comments or questions about the wvuScholar system and/or collections to John Hagen at John.Hagen@mail.wvu.edu.
