Excellence and Equity in Education call for enhancements beyond the standard operating budget. Access to education for and about women is directly linked to the financial support of our donors. They are the makers of excellence.
Your gifts to the Center for Women's Studies help preserve excellence and equity in education by safeguarding the Center's mission. Gifts designated to the Center for Women's Studies help preserve and enhance programming, course development and endowments (including the endowment for the Carrie Koeturius Scholarships for Returning Women Students), support outreach initiatives, and support the printing and mailing of Nexus, the Center newsletter.
Your gift will be used to:
Build the Women's Studies Difference Fund. The Difference Fund provides discretionary funds, primarily, to enhance the recruitment and the retention of teaching assistants for WMST 170 (the women's studies introductory course) and WMST 150 (Women In Movies), which are taken by more than 500 students each semester. This fund also enables undergraduate and graduate students to take advantage of student enrichment activities (field trips, internships, study abroad, workshop attendance, research, presentation of work) which would otherwise be impossible.
Help returning women students who, because of life circumstances, are more likely than men to have interrupted their education.
Support committed men and women who are completing graduate course work in Women's Studies and/or research that reflects current Women's Studies scholarship.
Recognize undergraduate women who demonstrate high mathematical/scientific achievement and commitment to social justice.
Recognize and stimulate teaching, scholarship and community service which increase access to education in Appalachia.
Honor graduate students who demonstrate marked leadership ability and/or show unusual promise as disciplinary/career/or community leaders who are committed to social justice.
Support WVU faculty, staff and student research and professional development activities.
Please take time now to decide how you will help shape the future of Women's Studies at WVU.
