Hello again, friends!
Another semester has passed and even more activities have been planned, accomplished, and rewarded.
The club had a council circle meeting (sans campfire) in which committees performed Top Tens, Commercials,
and the like. We have been featured in The Daily Athenaeum, and Focus among other publications. Debbie
McDonald threw the club a pizza/cake party at a meeting as congratulations for both last year's planning
committee of National Collegiate Conference and the coveted award of National Club of the Year. President
Hardesty congratulated WVU 4-H formally through a letter and personally at the Annual Student Organization
Forum. We were honored to give a report on behalf of the club at this event and were recognized for the
national award. Members volunteered at National Conference as small group discussion leaders, WVU Legislature
Day, and State Teen Leader Weekend. On the brink of dead week, the club is still active! We are having
dinner the very week of finals, sponsored by Anne Berry, and the Service Day/Formal May 6th, the Friday
evening of finals week!
Host weekend was a tremendous success and the promotions committee is still hard at work involving
itself in organization fairs and the week of engagement. The committee has already begun plans for
next year's host weekend.
Fundraising committee is still working hard to produce the enthusiastically awaited T-shirts to be
sold at summer 4-H camps. The WVU Collegiate 4-H hoodies are being worn proudly and often, a few
with personalization on the back. (See polar plunge photos for mine!)
The Service committee has planned a number of successful events since the last newsletter; Polar
plunge, children's hospital, Rosenbaum house, relay for life, and germ city, to name a few.
The social committee is eagerly awaiting the formal with a theme of goodwill. This event is open to
all collegiate 4-Hers and asks participants to engage in a state work day previous to the dance as
well as bringing clothing donations for Goodwill. We will also be having our annual end of the year
picnic at cooper's rock.
Look for us at organization fairs, in the news, and at State 4-H camps. The Back To School Picnic
will be here in a blink! {tentatively scheduled for August 27th}
On a personal note I would like to thank everyone for my fun times here at WVU. I think we've had
a really great year with blatant disregard to formality (aka the minutes and parli-pro) as well
as made some fantastic friendships and useful services. Whether a formal club event, or just
hanging out: I know I will miss my 4-H friends the most after graduation. How-How!
