Test-Optional Admission
Common Questions
How do students apply to WVU test-optional?
Both the WVU and Common Application are available to applicants applying test-optional. Students will be prompted when submitting the application to indicate if they are applying test-optional.
If applying test-optional, are students directly admitted to their major?
Select academic programs require a test score for direct admission. This is due to the competitive nature of some majors, or limited space. However, WVU will automatically evaluate all applicants regardless of major for the Center for Learning, Advising, and Student Success (CLASS). This ensures that students receive an admissions decision if awaiting a test date or another testing assessment for placement.
Application Status Check
Students may check their application status online.
