Admissions Decision Appeal
Eligibility
First-time Freshmen and Transfer Students
Before filing a formal appeal, check to see if you qualify. Some cases can be resolved without an appeal.
You are not required to file a formal appeal if:
- You are a first-time freshman with new official SAT or ACT scores and/or a new official high school transcript with an updated GPA. Contact your admissions representative to have new credentials reviewed for the Morgantown Campus.
- You are a first-time freshman admitted to the Undergraduate Studies program but denied admission to a specific major. If you have an improved GPA and/or test score, contact your admissions representative to update your file.
- You are a first-time freshman referred to WVU Potomac State College or WVU Institute of Technology and have updated credentials. Contact your admissions representative to review the requirements for the Morgantown Campus.
- You are a transfer student with an updated college transcript. Contact a transfer admissions representative to have your new credentials reviewed.
Transfer students applying to a health sciences program are not eligible to appeal. Contact your admissions representative to determine next steps
You are eligible to file an appeal if you are a first-time freshman or transfer student who was denied admission to the Morgantown Campus by the Office of Admissions and do not fall into any categories above.
Non-traditional Students
Non-traditional student appeals are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. If you are classified as a non-traditional student, contact your representative to discuss next steps.
Procedure
If you qualify to appeal your admissions decision, contact your admissions representative. They will provide a timeline and instructions for submitting the documentation necessary to evaluate your decision and begin the appeal process.
