Apply as a Readmitted Students
You are considered a readmitted student if you have been away from the University for at least 1 semester, excluding the summer terms.
Important: Students cannot be readmitted into Nursing, Medical Laboratory Science, Dental Hygiene, and Occupational Therapy. You must apply to these programs using the WVU Application by selecting Internal Applicant for student type.
All other applicants are not required to apply for readmission into their most recent program of study. If applying to a new major, students must meet admissions requirements for Transfer Students.
Some programs and majors have different course requirements and higher grade point average requirements; please review the various program requirements. Students who are returning from academic suspension will be readmitted into their previous major.
How to Apply
If you have been away from WVU for at least 1 semester, not including summer, please fill out the WVU Application.
Students who have been out of attendance for less than 3 years will not have to pay an application fee.
Please note: Decisions on readmission are based on your WVU academic standing along with academic work earned at any other institution you may have attended after leaving WVU. You are not required to submit a WVU transcript.
Application Requirements
In order to be readmitted, you must obtain an overall grade point average of 2.0 at all institutions attended since leaving WVU or present an overall grade point average of 2.0 between your WVU work and your work from all institutions attended since leaving WVU. Any outstanding financial obligations must be paid before readmission can be processed. You are not required to submit a WVU transcript.
Readmission Credit Policy
If you took courses at another institution while away from WVU, the process for transferring those credits depends on your academic standing when you left WVU.
Students Who Left in Good Academic Standing
If you left WVU in good academic standing and were away for 2 semesters or less, you must submit a Transient Form for any coursework completed during that time.
- Transfer credits will initially appear as NOEQ 1NT – Needs Transient Form Approval.
- After submitting the Transient Form, work with your academic advisor to have the credits evaluated and applied to your degree program.
If you have been away from WVU for over a calendar year, submit official transcripts to WVU Office of Admissions.
Students Who Left With a GPA Below 2.0
If your WVU GPA was below 2.0 when you left the University:
- Transfer credits cannot be articulated immediately upon readmission. They will appear as NOEQ 1NT - Insufficient Grade Point Average.
- You must first raise your WVU GPA to 2.0 or higher by completing WVU coursework.
- Once your GPA reaches 2.0 or above, work with your academic adviser to have eligible transfer credits evaluated and articulated.
Once You Are Readmitted
We will notify you by email of your admission decision. Once readmitted, you may activate your MIX account and WVU Portal to complete your next steps.
After your readmission is processed, your credits earned at other institutions will be entered on your WVU transcript, regardless of your GPA.
You are required to meet with their department’s academic adviser to determine if you meet requirements and to schedule classes. If you wish to pursue general studies, or do not meet the requirements of an academic college, you’ll be classified as CLASS (Center for Learning, Advising, and Student Success) after meeting with your department adviser. CLASS students will need to contact a CLASS adviser to schedule classes.
