Apply as a Senior Citizen
West Virginia residents age 65 and older may enroll in approved on-campus courses at WVU at reduced tuition and fees. Courses may be taken for credit or no credit, subject to approval and availability. Online courses are not eligible.
Senior citizens admitted to complete a course under this program are considered non-degree seeking students for purposes of all other policies contained in the WVU Academic Catalog.
How to Apply
Print and complete the free Senior Citizen application and mail it to:

Applicants must indicate whether they are applying as non-degree undergraduate or non-degree graduate students and whether courses will be taken for credit (grade) or non-credit (no grade).
Registration approval is contingent upon approval from the college delivering the course. Enrollment may not proceed prior to this approval.
Upon approval, students will receive an admissions letter with instructions for course registration.
Tuition and fees are assessed based on enrollment type:
- For credit: 50% of the resident tuition cost
- Non-credit: $50 per course
Admissions Requirements
We recommend starting the application process at least 2 months before the term you wish to enroll.
All applicants are admitted as non-degree students. If you are seeking a degree, apply through the standard WVU Application.
Eligibility
- Undergraduate applicants must have completed high school or earned a GED.
- Graduate applicants must have earned at least a bachelor’s degree.
- Courses must be taken on campus. Online courses are not eligible.
- You must meet all prerequisite requirements for any course you wish to take.
Registration
Final registration is subject to approval by the college or school offering the course. Instructor permission may also be required.
