Major: Dual Major in Biology and Marketing
Hometown: Howard County, MD
Favorite Professor: Cindy Dalton. I came to WVU with the sole intention of studying Biology. However, during my second year I decided to start dual majoring in Marketing, even though I had no experience in business classes. I had no confidence in that major my first semester, but Professor Dalton went out of her way to work with me one-on-one. Looking back, she is the first professor that made me realize that I had potential outside of just science. She makes accounting fun, which is hard to do, and I would recommend her for any Business and Economics student.
Fun Fact: I am on the WVU Club Boxing Team.
Hobbies: I enjoy volunteering at the Avian Conservation Center of Appalachia where I get to help rehabilitate sick and injured birds. The facility is located on Cheat Lake, where I can spend the day enjoying other hobbies like boating, hiking or kayaking.
Advice for Freshmen: Know that college, especially at West Virginia University, is the only time in your life where you can meet your authentic self and develop your interests. Your years at WVU are too short not to go to planetarium shows, try an exercise class, register for a "fun elective,” sign up for a spontaneous camping trip at the student Rec Center, join a club or volunteer. Whatever your interest is, I promise that no one at West Virginia University will ever judge you for being different.
