What is the ALEKS math placement and TEAS assessment?

ALEKS (Assessment and Learning in Knowledge Spaces) is a testing platform used to measure the strengths and weaknesses of a student's mathematical knowledge. Select majors will accept an ALEKS placement score for test optional applicants in place of an ACT or SAT. The Office of Admissions or the academic department will notify admitted students on a rolling basis of their eligibility to place using ALEKS.

TEAS (Testing of Essential Academic Skills) is a standardized exam specific to the nursing discipline and used as an assessment tool to evaluate applicants for admission. Nursing will utilize TEAS for test optional applicants in place of an ACT or SAT placement score. Students eligible to take the TEAS exam will be notified by email within two weeks of being admitted to WVU. Please review the Nursing Admissions Requirements.
