Frequently Asked Questions

How is my residency status determined?

We use the information provided on your admissions application to determine your residency status. Residency is related to your state of residence and is used to assess tuition and fees and award scholarships.

Students may apply for reclassification if they have a strong, well-documented case for having their residency status changed. To learn what is required to establish West Virginia residency, please refer to the Board of Governors Academics Rule 2.4 - Residency Status for Admission, Tuition, and Fee Purposes.
