Welcome to the West Virginia University College of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences' World Wide Web site. The Coliseum is home for the College of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences. Over 650 pre-majors and majors are enrolled in the various academic disciplines. The Department of Coaching and Teaching Studies offers degrees in Physical Education Teacher Education (PETE) and Athletic Coaching Education (ACE), and the Department of Sport Sciences offers degrees in Athletic Training (ATTR), Sport and Exercise Psychology (SEP), and Sport Management (SM). The College awards B.S., M.S., and Ed.D. degrees. The College annually graduates over 150 students from its undergraduate and graduate majors.
Faculty, staff, and students have access to some of the most state-of-the-art fitness and wellness facilities on the east coast. Facilities include the 14,000 seating-capacity Coliseum, the Shell Building, which houses an indoor track; the Natatorium pool and diving well, outdoor track, all-purpose athletic playing field, and Stansbury Hall Fitness Center and multi-purpose room.
Alumni from the WVU College of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences include Jerry West (NBA basketball star and administrator), George Esper (distinguished war correspondent), Charles "Chuck" Howley (NFL football player), Sam Huff (NFL Football Player), Susan Barnes (actress), Robert DeProspero (former presidential Secret Service agent), Earl Anderson (retired general), Alfred Ware (international business leader), and John Spiker (athletic trainer).
Our faculty and staff are committed to student excellence. We remain committed to educating and preparing future teachers, coaches, athletic trainers, sport managers, and sport and exercise psychologists.
