WVU TOWING POLICY starting July 15th, 2008

Starting July 15th, 2008 individuals who have five or more unpaid citations, from parking illegally in lots requiring a permit are subject to being towed. The vehicle will be towed to a location under control of the WVU Police Department. If your vehicle has been towed please call either the WVU Police Department at (304)293-3136 or the Parking Management Office at (304)293-5502 where they will explain the process for getting the car released. Individuals may find out if they are at risk of being towed by calling the Parking Management Office.

West Virginia University Department of Transportation and Parking finds it necessary to implement the tow policy to deter illegal parking. We hope this policy will decrease illegal parking on the campus and provide spots to those disabled individuals or to those who have paid for a permit and should be guaranteed a spot.

EMPLOYEE PERMITS IMPORTANT INFORMATION!!!

The Department of Transportation and Parking has developed options for the renewal of parking permits for the 2008 - 2009 Academic Year.

Three basic categories of renewal exist:

Monthly Payroll Deduction Permit Holders without outstanding citations
Monthly Payroll Deduction Permit Holders with outstanding citations
Permit Holders that pay through Annual Purchase (full amount at one time)

Parking permits will not be available to renew on-line. The new permits take effect July 1, 2008.

Holders of Monthly Payroll Deduction Permits without outstanding citations will automatically have their permit renewed and will receive their permit with the June 30, 2008 payroll distribution. They will continue to have their parking permit cost deducted from their pay at the end of every month as it currently is carried out. If these persons would like to opt-out of the payroll deduction for their 2008 / 2009 parking permit, they must come to the Parking Management office at 3040 University prior to June 13, 2008 to fill out the proper enrollment forms.

In order to participate in the automatic renewal process, Monthly Payroll Deduction Permit Holders with outstanding citations must have all outstanding parking citations on the 2007 / 2008 account cleared by June 13, 2008. Citation payments may be made on-line at https://parking.wvu.edu/. If these citations are removed by June 13th the new parking permit will be sent to these permit holders as part of the June 30th payroll distribution and they will continue to have their parking permit cost deducted from their pay at the end of every month. They may choose to opt-out of the payroll deduction for their parking permit by coming to the Parking Management office at 3040 University prior to June 13th.

For those permit holders that make an Annual Purchase of their parking permits, renewals of the 2008 / 2009 permits will go on sale June 9th, 2008 only at the Parking Management office at 3040 University. Please be advised that on-line parking permit sales will not be available for the 2008 / 2009 renewals. The 2008 / 2009 permits take effect July 1, 2008. Remember, persons that pay annually can easily convert to the monthly payroll deduction which is convenient and provides pre-tax benefits.

Visit https://parking.wvu.edu/ to check the status of a parking account - pay citations, adding new cars to the account, or just to view the permit history. In order to access the on-line parking account, Master ID log-in information is needed which can be obtained through the OIT Helpdesk at (304) 293-4444 ext. 1 or OITHelp@mail.wvu.edu. In addition to on-line payment, citations may be paid at the Parking Management office at 3040 University.

For answers to questions please contact Parking Management at 293-5502 or at parking@mail.wvu.edu.
