How and when will I receive my financial aid?

Financial Aid Offers

WVU expects to start receiving 2024-2025 FAFSA applications from the Federal Student Aid system in early to mid-March. Due to the delayed FAFSA release and the changes to the financial aid process by the Department of Education, we do not have an estimated time for when full financial aid offers will begin. Financial Aid Disbursement

Financial aid is paid out in two disbursements, half for the fall semester and half for the spring semester. If all requirements for receiving aid have been met, most financial aid will disburse into your WVU student account about one week before the start of each semester; however, some types of assistance coming from sources outside WVU (some state assistance and private scholarships) may be late in arriving. Use STAR to monitor receipt of your assistance, or contact the WVU Hub.

Viewing Your Financial Aid Offer

You can see your financial aid offer in STAR using these steps:

Log in at star.wvu.edu (or access STAR through WVU Portal).
Click on Financial Aid.
Click on Award.
Click on Award by Aid Year.
Choose the current year.

You can accept your offer by clicking on the Accept Award Offer tab and making a decision on the financial aid offer.
