How does WVU award scholarships to first-time students?

It's easy to qualify for our merit scholarships. Just submit your application to WVU and we'll review for our central awards.

Use our scholarship table to see which scholarships you could earn.

To be considered for WVU scholarships, you must be admitted by June 1. Students admitted prior to this date have until June 1 to submit updated official transcripts or test scores.

And don't forget to submit the FAFSA. You may qualify for additional need-based aid and institutional awards. Our priority deadline for the FAFSA is usually March 1. The 2024-2025 priority deadline has been removed due to the delayed FAFSA launch. For West Virginia residents, the deadline to apply for the Promise Scholarship has been extended to September 1, 2024.
