What is an academic credit?

One credit hour is equivalent to one hour of guided instruction (50-minute class) and a minimum of two hours of out-of-class student work each week for approximately 15 weeks for one semester or the equivalent amount of work over a different amount of time such as during the summer sessions, which may vary in duration.
