What is verification and how long will it take?

Verification

Federal regulations require WVU to select a certain number of financial aid applications for a review process called Verification, which checks the accuracy of information that was entered on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

If you are selected for verification, it is required that you complete the process for federal aid to be awarded. This does not impact institutional scholarship eligibility but could impact scholarships that come from outside the University.Students selected for verification will be notified via their MIX email that they have unsatisfied requirements on their STAR account. Once a student is selected, the verification process must be completed before WVU can award and/or disburse financial aid.
