When and how will I receive my scholarship?

Scholarship Awards

We begin awarding freshman scholarships in October for the following fall semester. If you apply for admission after October 1, you can expect to receive your scholarship information approximately three weeks after you get your acceptance letter. If you qualify for merit-based scholarships, you will automatically be notified by mail a few weeks after being accepted.

Submitting External Scholarships

If you receive a scholarship from a non-WVU source, such as a community organization, you can submit the scholarship to WVU by sending a check payable to West Virginia University to the WVU Hub. How to send scholarship checks to WVU

Scholarship Disbursement

About one week before the start of each semester, your scholarship disburses into your student account in increments of 50% for the fall semester and 50% for the spring semester. Any funds remaining after all University charges are paid are refunded to you according to the method you choose. Please review the options at studentaccounts.wvu.edu/refunds.
