Parking

Free parking for NSO is available at the WVU Coliseum on the Evansdale area of campus.

From there, you will travel downtown by bus to the Mountainlair Student Union for NSO check-in. You should arrive at the WVU Coliseum between 7:15 and 8:00 a.m. in order to get to the Mountainlair in time for the Welcome session.

The last bus will leave the WVU Coliseum at 8:00 a.m. Families arriving after the last bus will need to drive to the Mountainlair and pay to park.

Tips for Attending

  • Review the schedule before the event.
  • Students, don't forget to take your strengths assessment before your in-person event.
  • Dress in layers. You will be inside air-conditioned spaces, as well as outside. Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes.
  • Breakfast and lunch will be provided.
  • Bring your questions!

August NSO Schedule

Park at the WVU Coliseum

7:15 a.m. - 8:00 a.m.

Park in the WVU Coliseum parking lots and board the bus to travel downtown for NSO.

Check-in, Breakfast and WVU Bookstore

7:30 a.m. - 8:25 a.m.

You'll be dropped off in front of the Mountainlair Student Union, where you'll check in for NSO and enjoy a quick breakfast on us. The WVU Bookstore will be open if you'd like to do some shopping before starting your program.

Welcome and Event Overview

8:30 a.m. - 9:10 a.m.

Mountainlair Ballrooms

A special guest will welcome you to campus and our NSO staff will help you understand the schedule of the day.

Student Activity and Strengths 101

9:10 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.

Students, you will have the opportunity to meet with other incoming students and ask all your questions of our current students.

We'll also explore your top 5 strengths and how to use them. If you have not taken the strengths assessment, please do so prior to your NSO date.

Parents and guests, this session is for you! Learn important info you need to know as a parent or family member of a WVU-bound student!

Break

10:30 a.m. - 10:45 a.m.

Life as a Mountaineer

10:45 a.m. - 11:15 a.m.

Discover exactly what to expect with Life as a Mountaineer! We will show you how to get involved (and stay involved), some traditions we love and additional ways you will be supported.

Lunch

11:15 a.m. - 1:15 p.m.

Lunch is on us! You can eat at Hatfields, our dining hall in the Mountainlair, or choose from the Mountainlair's other eateries.

Information Fair

11:15 a.m. - 1:15 p.m.

First floor of the Mountainlair

Connect with student services and resources that will support you and help you find your fit on campus. We'll provide a list of participating groups closer to the in-person dates.

Explore Campus

1:15 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Students and families will have the opportunity to explore campus at their own pace – find where your classes are, check out the rec centers and see a model room in your residence hall.

Residence Hall Move-in

1:15 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

You can move into your assigned residence hall anytime after 1:15 p.m. and before 4 p.m.

Last Bus

4:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

The last bus will leave the Mountainlair at 4:00 p.m. and make its final loop through campus. Please be at one of our designated bus stops by 4:00 p.m. to be picked up on this last loop.
